It seems Ridley Scott is attached to direct a prequel to his 1979 epic Alien. Rearding the plot, that is very secretive still, however as has been circulated before Scott and Sigourney Weaver have some interesting ideas for Ellen Ripley.

Universal has teamed up with Illumination Entertainment to adapt another Dr. Seuss book, this time The Lorax, into a 3D CGI animated feature . First published back in 1971, The Lorax is narrated by a greedy entrepreneur who, despite warnings from the tree-loving Lorax, strips a forest of its stock of Truffula trees to manufacture clothing. The results are catastrophic as all the animals leave and nothing's left. Universal's feature version of this will be co-directed by three different directors: Chris Renaud (Despicable Me), Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio

The GOOD STUFF in the garbage today:

Todd Phillips has advised a script for The Hangover sequel is already in development for a 2011 Memorial Day release, such as with Kung Fu Panda over at DreamWorks, the test screenings were so positive for the original movie, they had already put pen to paper before the first feature was released

Bruno - DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE

I'm almost embarrassed to say Ive seen Bruno. I was shocked, appalled and disgusted by the 90 minutes of mind-numbing filth that I was subjected to. It was Friday night, and my regional multiplex screening was over half full. I was unmoved for the entire duration. I am by no means homophobic and I am certain that even the gay community would be offended by this movie. Sasha Barren-Cohen (Borat) has hit a new low. I am sure however he will make a mint from the millions of deluded punters who will flock to see it because of the viral marketing that has overtaken the media to flog this dead horse. No wonder he had to appear on TV in character to promote this film. If I could I would flog this movie with a giant rubber dildo myself. It was truly pathetic. I should have asked for my money back when 2 employees at the ticket office said they couldn't sit though a whole screening - and they get paid to watch it!

Don't waste your time. No stars

Ice Age 3 - Melting Moments

Sid, Manny, Diego, Scrat and Ellie, have come a long way since we first met them in the original Ice Age movie. This third outing sees much advancement in their lives, both within the plot and as a viewer. The graphics this time around are richer and slightly more superb than previous efforts. Our two Mammoths, Manny and Ellie, are preparing for the birth of their child , and Diego is considering moving on from the motley bunch. Our over-excited young Scrat has also met his match, and seemingly a mate.

As things go, it was familiar ground with or prehistoric friends, thus it was a welcome change to have a new character in this mix. Simon Pegg, (Star Trek, Hot Fuzz) appeared in a colourful role as “Buck” the nomad adventurer who navigated our friends through the dinosaur world and opened their eyes to a world they hadn’t even realised existed

Last Ride -" A Road Well Travelled"

Why is it that Australian movies resort to picturesque landscape to sell a story? Is it because we have no faith in our writing? No belief in our acting talent, or is every film maker doing their bit to help the Interns at Tourism Australia come up with a decent campaign? Last Ride, is essentially an outback father son road movie. I was expecting much more than I was delivered.

Hugo Weaving is a talented thespian, and a master at playing the tormented soul (Little Fish is a prime example). He is no stranger to Hollywood, having appeared in the Matrix and Lord of The Rings trilogies, and is spot on at every turn. I was however nonplussed with his performance as the father of one, desperate to evade his past and protect his future. His violent side was evident, his bond with son "Chook"( played by newcomer Tom Russell) strong, and his characterisation as the the drunk Aussie bloke (complete with flannel ) flawless, I just didn't buy it

I Love You, Man- "Mandate for Laughs"

Paul Rudd’s deadpan demeanour is something he has become famous for. The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Role Models, are both classic examples of this sweeping statement. I Love You, Man is no exception. Jason Segal (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) is on the money as his best friend and potential best man candidate.

This movie should warm the heart of every doting male who spends time with his girlfriend and her friends rather than spend “time with the boys” and I am sure they do exist. Rudd’s character proposes to his girlfriend and whips in to wedding planner action without the crucial ingredient in his corner – the best man. He then sets out, with the help of his gay brother to meet men, and have “man-dates” in order to narrow down the candidates worthy enough to pretend they know him well enough come the big day
