Juno (2007) is the debut effort for scribe Diablo Cody who's coloured past features stints as a stripper and blogger. Her exploits have given her great fodder it seems for this modern classic about growing up all too soon. The titular Juno (Ellen Page - Hard Candy) is an alternative kid who who has all the whimsy of a novelist and and the chutzpah of a packet of tic-tacs.
When Juno decides she is ill-prepared for motherhood she seeks to assist a young yuppie couple (Jason Batemen and Jennifer Garner ) who are seemingly eager to undertake the perils of parenthood, in all its many facets.
This richly layered movie is based around relationships and how people deal with one of the pivotal moments in any couples life.
It's soundtrack compliments the dialogue and characters and personalities perfectly. The vernacular in particular might be a bit beyond the parents, but that's not the demographic here.
A true masterpiece for the sexually promiscuous and free- wheeling Internet Generation.
