Jess: Every day is the same. Tommy likes things to be a certain way, if I do one thing differently, I lose him.

I tried to stay vague in this review but a word of warning, don't read 'till you've seen it. I certainly don't want to ruin it for you.

Christopher Smith , the director of "Creep" and "Severance", strikes a chord in me with this one. The British-Australian co-produced "Triangle" is a sophisticated, atmospheric horror film and this mix of words doesn't quite sum it up. A straight to DVD release, i wonder why.

The film captures you in the first minutes with its eerie theme music and use of narrative pacing. Likewise, I couldn't leave out the amazing cinematography by Robert Humphreys, it's an eye-candy to watch and not in the "Avatar" train of thought.

Raw and intelligent lighting and camera work use the script of their own accord achieving a compromise between them that helps you stay focused. Sometimes, even a fake scenery can add to the experience.

It's a connect the dots story but so much more. Drama? Horror? Mystery? It has it all and Melissa George adds continuously throughout the film with her multiple faced performance. She's absolutely mesmerizing to watch.
The perceptive reality of Jess is a mind-bending experience for the willing, it will trick you and carry you along while it unravels the character's motivations and urges, digging deeper in a surprising way.

The nightmarish feeling in Christopher Smith's hands comes alive. It twists and numbs you, leaving you unable to move before the constant-in your face- imminent danger.
All the characters meet at some point on a theatre, in that way Smith managed to describe a symbolic stage where the actors always played their parts to a T. Is theater any different? Everyday actors represent characters with a predetermined fate. Decisions they cannot change or alter in any kind of way because even the smallest thing can lead to a different outcome.

The "Triangle" respects its shape and never goes full circle. The storm overhead is equivalent to the neurosis when looking at an unpacked jigsaw puzzle. The stakes here though are higher.
Left me helpless and disoriented and all I have to say is thanks.
